Re: [disklavier] Re: Buying Disklaviers out of state

I agree with Ann, Ed. While some dealers keep a tech in their employ,
there are independent and qualified techs out there somewhere who might
be happy to work with you and who would be acceptable to Yamaha for
possible warranty work. I'd bring the matter up first to the
out-of-state dealer you found to see what they would suggest. The tech
who services you may have to come from out of town. (Some are even
private pilots.)

Also, if you know how to discreetly contact the local dealer's tech,
give him a call at home in the evening and have a chat. His contract
with the dealer may not preclude his doing outside work.

Also check http://www.ptg.org/rptlist.htm to see where the nearest RPTs are.

When I purchased my DC3 out-of-state on a best and final offer, the
local dealer was hopping mad and left a screaming message on my
answering machine. I'm uncertain why she eventually went out of
business, but her attitude towards customers could have been a factor.
