Hi Ann,
I was reading about converting vinyl disks to CD's
and I too have been interested in this process. I am
far from any kind of computer geek and do not
understand about sound cards and plugging this into
that, etc.
I have an iMac and do know that Griffin Technology
makes a gadget which has an external sound card that
can turn old vinyls and tapes into MP3's or CD's. I
am sure they must make the same gizmo for regular
PC's- For mac its called Griffin iMic. I think its
about $45.00
Another way to go, and it's an expensive way, is to
buy a "record player" type of machine that does play
all sizes of vinyl records and plays cds AND records
the vinyls onto blank CD's. It sells for various
prices (check the discount sites on the web) but the
highest price is 399.00 (ouch). The machine is called
TEAC 6F-350; you can just type that into Google and
get sites to go to.
I hope that these 2 ways might give you ideas even
though one is most expensive.
Good luck. I"m going to make my own copies when I
get around to it!
