Disklavier

It is likely that DKV models vary in terms of what information they 
display. I am somewhat sure that most would display the first track 
name if there is one. I have some programs that I wrote for adding 
text informatin into MIDI files from a tab delimited text file. You 
can construct a file in excel with all the text information you want 
to add and it will be added to the appropriate MIDI files on a batch 
basis. This allows for the editing of text information without having 
to open each file. Currently, the program is specifically designed to 
insert keyworded text according to my sepecific needs but it can be 
modified to suite any requirements for DKV display. Unfortunately 
there are no conventions regarding how MIDI files are titled. Some 
people make type 1 files for the sole purpose of putting text 
information into multiple track names. One of my programs will list 
all of this to an excel sheet so you can see and manipulate all of 
this data. For somone who is good with excel, it is possible to list 
all the text data in a file and reorganize it to suite your needs and 
then insert it back. You could concatenate different track names, for 
example. 

If there is interest and if someone provides the rules for what a DKV 
displays, I'll make a custom version of the program specifically to 
make files which display appropriately. Ths display is limited on the 
DKV so it is not really possible to show everything. That is why I 
prefer to play files from a computer and to use a playlist player that 
shows all the information I have carefully placed in text fields in 
the files.
