Not having any luck with the reply tab for the most recent message in 
this thread so I replying this way. 

The problem with the wireless MIDI devices for use with a notebook is 
that they are really made for something like a guitar (with the 
exception of some very expensive commercial models) and are supposed 
to plug into a MIDI sending device directly. They also require 
batteries. To use them with a notebook, you need a MIDI interface 
unless you happen to have one of the two notebooks ever made (as far 
as I can tell) that have MIDI built in. This means a USB interface 
the wireless MIDI device with its batteries and all the wires 
connecting them needs to be bundled with the notebook. Hardly bertter 
than a wire. That is why I am so excited about the wireless USB 
solution. I just checked Belkin's web site and it looks like they are 
really going to make it available soon, probabl in time for 
Christmas. The bad news is that the price has just about doubled 
since they first offered it. It is now $200
