On my Mark III I use the volume control on the smart system control
on the left side beneath the keyboard.   It does occur to me that a playback
only unit might not have that though.

I got my Mark III (from another list member) because his two year old
or so perfectly maintained DC5A cost me a third of what a new DC5Mk4
would.
