Disklavier

Todd, yes, Yahoogroups provides a "moderate new members" setting, I use this
for a couple of groups I own, it works really well.  Let me know if you need
any help with this.  Interesting though that I've never, ever had any spam
come in to the owner email address.

They have both been removed and banned one minute after I saw them.  I do
this frequently.  Having all messages held for me to moderate would greatly
slow our exchanges, since I might go three days or more without checking
email.  I'm looking into a way to moderate only new members since invariably
the spam happens within a day of joining.  Unhappily I receive ten times the
volume that the group does because it is sent to all group owners through
the disklavier-owner@ address.

Why cant we remove the group members that appear on the spam messages? The
"freebie" on shows the group users id.

We probably don't want ALL messages going through a moderator (nor would any
moderator want that job!).

I'm the owner of a different yahoo group, and it gets absolutely no spam
what-so-ever.  The reason is that I set the group up so that you can't post
messages to it until you are a member, and you can't become a member until I
approve of the request.  I can't recall if this group is also set up that
way (my guess is that it is, otherwise we would be seeing a whole lot more
spam!).  Anyway, maybe we should ask for a disklavier serial number or
something along those lines?  It couldn't be quite that severe though, since
there are a lot of valuable members in this group that don't actually own a
disklavier.

Agreed.  If the moderator has the time to filter out such messages, this
stuff should never see the light of day in this forum.

I agree. Who needs to see this stuff on a Disklavier group? Anybody 
checking what people post before it goes out???? If i get a vote, i 
vote to have the moderator/administr ator filter messages. I don't need 
to see this stuff.
