Re: [disklavier] .FIL to .MID

there may be an editing program for fil files but it would be difficult to find. the method you outline is what i would do. there should be no loss of information. you may (unlikely) have to add a few pedal events if the songs are very close and share pedal events. you will also need to copy any setup and or sysex stuff that might be at the beginning of the file. for example, there may be a piano patch at the beginning. the easiest way to make the individual files in an editor would be to delete the notes and pedal events for all but one of the songs and leave anything else that you may not understand. leave whatever is in the beginning with each of the new songs that you save.

Hi to all,
I have a .FIL file that is actually composed of 20 individual songs, but i would like to separate out these individual songs and have 20 separate .FIL files rather than have only 1 .FIL that contains all 20 pieces.
Does anyone know how to break up a .FIL? One way i can think how this might be done would be to convert the .FIL file into a .MID file and then manually edit out the pieces on a .MID editing software, then save each piece back into .FIL. But i don't even know if there may be any loss of information during the conversion.
Is there an easier way perhaps?
thanks,
ron
