RE: [disklavier] Upgrade MK III to connect to D. Radio?

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, without an upgrade path, older
Disklaviers will carry a smaller and smaller premium over the underlying
piano.

If past Disklavier history is anything to go by, it's unlikely that any
specific DKC controller will ever be upgradeable, at least not if it
involved hardware changes (adding functionality via software updates or the
addition of DSR1/DCD1 units has been available for some models in the past),
not least due to development costs. Also, the Mark III has now been
superceded by the E3, so further development of the Mark III would be
unlikely.

Mind you, with processing power becoming cheaper, I could see some sort of
universal Disklavier box, similar to the DCD1, appearing, which would
connect to any (or most) past Disklavier models, either directly or via
MIDI, but I certainly am not aware of any such animal appearing in the near
future.
