Re: [disklavier] DKC-850 CD and Smart PianoSoft Compatibility?

2010-03-15 by Phil Blah

I know what Robert is saying, if the CD is recorded at A440 but his piano is slightly up or down in pitch or the original CD itself is out, it takes 2 seconds to have a Mark4 setup a "global" pitch raise/drop on audio/synth so everything is perfect. Ofcorse if just 1 CD is down or up in pitch it would be handy to adjust that seperatley.

Doing this on a PC would be quite sloppy, with all the mucking around to 'pitch match' your piano to the CD audio, not only would this take ages to do and if the piano (like all of ours being an alive instrument) changes again then your cd rips would be "out" again.

I suppose if you try and tell me that your piano is perfect A440 and "the cd is out" then well, ok, you can rip each cd track and then open up and a audio program, play the track and play the same notes on the piano and then try to slowly workout where the pitch is, then apply the pitch change to each track, then save back onto CD... "phew".

Anyway, that's the very reason the MK4 is cool, as the CD might be "out" or your piano might be "out" just a bit and a simply having the unit adjust +/- a few cents on the fly solves all the worlds problems :)

Hopfully the 850 unit will do this for you.

Philip

Greetings ROBERT,

shouldn't it be possible to copy the tracks to a computer hard drive
and correct the pitch with an audio processing program and then write
back to the CD? i have never done this but "Audacity" offers it as an
"effect".
