DC2A Mark III Quits Playing After a Few Songs Serial 91270

2010-12-04 by James Hoffman

I am hoping that someone in this Users Group can be of assistance,

My Disklavier now has a mind of it's own. Whether it be playing from a floppy
or off of the hard disk, the piano just plays a few songs and then quits.
As the piano quits, the power on/off relay clicks and the display says: Power
Off, See You Again. The relay clicks again and the display then goes to a blank
yellow screen.

If I power off the piano and then power back on, sometimes the piano comes on
and the screen immediately is frozen saying "Power Off, See You Again."

No buttons work after this.

Then, if I power the Piano off and then back on, the piano will play. It will
only play a few songs, however and then it quits again.

My Piano is 10 years old. In 2001, shortly after I purchased it, it quit
playing. My local repair person was not able to diagnose the problem.
Eventually, through numerous calls to Yamaha and a few FedEx shipments, I
replaced 2 circuit boards myself and the piano was fine for 9 years. My reason
in mentioning this is that I am quite techy. With some direction and a
schematic, I can measure voltages and follow complicated diagnostic routines.
So, even though there isn't a local repair person, if I can find some technical
support, I can follow directions and diagnose by taking direction from others.

I am hoping that someone in this group can lead me to a successful repair.

Thanks for your help.

Jim
