I am quite attached to my Clavinova 209 and did not want to replace it just for ease of file transfer. Does anyone in the group have experience with this?

I'm not sure what you are asking; I have a device in my computer that
gives me USB slots, memory card slots etc. in place of a floppy drive,
and I use a USB floppy drive most of the time if I need one (though it
doesn't cover all uses).

Are you referring to this kind of device:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/720kb-2DD-Floppy-Emulator-Yamaha-Clavinova-CVP-/180649534795?pt=PCC_Drives_Storage_Internal&hash=item2a0f8d254b#ht_2258wt_907

and whether that can be safely used as a replacement in your
Clavinova? Based on the advertisement I would say yes, as long as you
only need 720kb disk emulation (not sure whether you can use high
density 1.44mb disks in that Clavinova - my disklavier certainly can).
