Announcing the new Handbook of MIDI Player Tools

2011-06-26 by Carol

The original 2003 version has been updated to the Handbook of MIDI Player Tools 2011, and placed on its own website: www.midiplayertools.com. This new version covers technology that was not available 7 years ago as well as more information about what is available today. If you have visited this site anytime within the past month, please refresh your browser to see the site in its final form. Somehow, those no-cache html codes don't always work the way I thought they should!

I have had to learn many new things, and revise my thinking about converting MIDI files to audio files and what is now possible with reasonable quality. The way new MIDI Players are controlled is still a bit baffling to me as the technology has gone from floppy disks to iPhones and a world of super audioCDs in between!

I have also tried to be more inclusive of other MIDI Playerson the market besides the Yamaha Disklaviers. The music software section has expanded, and there are new sections about networking and working with digital audio files.

Whether knowingly or unknowingly, the work of the following people has made this 2011 update possible, and I give them my thanks: Mark Fontana, Joan Heitzeberg, George Litterst, Terry Smythe, Wayne Stahnke, Warren Trachtman, and John Walker.

I still feel a little too close to the forest to see all the trees, so let me know about corrections that need to me made. Enjoy!
