Re: [disklavier] Disklavier Remote Live Concert

2011-08-04 by Peter Giles

As Bill Brandom stated earlier:

Yamaha is testing a new broadcast service called "Remote Live" where you can receive an audio and video stream of a performance taking place somewhere in the world and have the keys on YOUR Disklavier move in perfect sync as they are played by the performer who may be thousands of miles away! This exciting technology was first shown at the Winter NAMM 2011 Show and Yamaha has been conducting test broadcasts in the US and refining this service since then.

How is this any different than what we have now? The Mark 4s has been

I thought this group would enjoy seeing the future of Disklavier.

This week, we had David Bowie's keyboardist Mike Garson give a live
piano performance for the folks at Sweetwater Sound in Ft. Wayne, IN.
The only thing was…Mike was in California.

We did the live performance over the Internet. New beta technology from
Yamaha called "Remote Live." The traditional piano enters the world of
live TV entertainment. Pretty cool stuff, wouldn't you agree?
