I've recently purchased a used MX85 with DKC5R (mfg late 1999, great condition, only 315 hrs on the Disklaver, and the origianl owners didn't play). I've read Carol's manual and noticed that it's imperative to reduce the velocity values of midis and ESet files downloaded from the internet. However, it doesn't seem to change anything on my instrument. I've played a few original files and "velocity reduced" files in series and did not notice any difference in volume. These particular original files had velocity profiles maxing out at around 100, then I reduced them to 60 just to see if I'd notice a difference. Is this common with this instrument? Or am I doing something wrong? I think I may have read somewhere within this group's archives that this particular controller adjusts every song to a velocity of 100, regardless of what the original profile is. Is that correct? Thanks. ~Aaron
