Hi again! I checked with my MPX1 (upright MARKIIXG) and in the manual dedicated to the "silent" piano there are the instructions to cancel keys motion during silent operation . You have probalby the same setting when you speak of the "quiet key "option in my case it is in the "silent"menu and it is KEYS= ON or OFF. If OFF is selected the keys do not move. Now on my piano that works also with the incoming Midi DATA that is played from my Imac... maybe in your case there is something to check or try with the midi settings . The important settings (on the controlbox fucntion menu) are: -For "Piano Part": Piano rcv CH=01 and Piano Part ESBL= OUT -For MIDI OUT= ESBL OUT -For LOCAL setting in "ON" Those settings enable me to send midi from my Imac and receive it also to/from the piano. There must be a way on your piano if you dont find it you could try phoning yamaha or emailing (in the uk they are very responsive and competent). --- In disklavier@yahoogroups.com, "ostimu" <john@...> wrote: > > I tried this previously (detailed below in my original post). It only works with songs played from within the Disklavier. It has no effect on playback via MIDI. When the Disklavier receives MIDI data, it ignores this setting. > Is there anything else I can try? > > > --- In disklavier@yahoogroups.com, George Frederick Litterst <PianoBench@> wrote: > > > > Good afternoon, everyone. > > > > John, page 66 of the Mark IV manual (section called Other Settings) describes 2 ways to do this. > > > > Regards, > > PianoBench > > > > On May 22, 2012, at 12:24 AM, ostimu wrote: > > > > > Subject says it all... Is there a way to disable the movement of the keys when I'm using MIDI to play the Disklavier while in Silent Mode? I plug in headphones, which of course blocks the hammers, but the keys still move -- and make quite a bit of noise when playing back "loud" music. (I say "loud" because I have headphones on.) Under the Setup menu of the PRC, there's an option "QUIET KEY:" which can be on or off. It seems that "OFF" should disable the keys when the piano is playing back (via MIDI) in quiet mode, but it doesn't. > > > > > > It's great that I can go into quiet mode, but with the keys bouncing all over the place, it's not really all that quiet! Is there some setting I'm missing? Does the "QUIET KEY" setting only apply to silent playback from within the Disklavier itself? (If I play a track contained on the Disklavier's hard drive, the keys don't move.) > > > Thanks! > > > -John > > > > > > > > >
