DKVutilities for Windows 7 and Windows 8

Recently I discovered that some of the Disklavier utilities really do work using Windows 7 and Windows 8. This is important for owners of older Disklaviers who want to convert their Yamaha floppy disks to MIDI files to use on playlist software from a computer or mobile device. The problem is that not all Yamaha Pianosoft floppy disks can be backed-up or converted to MIDI files. I am thinking that my original attempts were with such disks which led me to believe that Windows 7 and Windows 8 were useless in running the dkvutil software programs found at www.midiplayertools.com I used the Yamaha UD-FD01 USB floppy drive from Yamaha plugged into the USB port on both the Windows 7 and Windows 8 laptops. For those who own a DKC850, this external floppy drive is recommended to copy your floppy disks into the memory. Not all external USB floppy drives will work for this purpose. I used RootARipper to copy the floppy to the hard drive. Then I used YamPlayer in batch mode to convert the .fil files to MIDI files. YamPlayer will also create playlists in ESEQ format as well as MIDI files. In the dkvutil zip file, exits two programs that also worked. ESEQ2MID was clunky and only worked on one song at a time. However, Veloset worked great for changing the loudness and dynamic range of the MIDI or ESEQ files. So, for those who have inquired how to convert Yamaha ESEQ files to MIDI files, make playlists, and mess with the volume or dynamic range of the songs, using Windows 7 and Windows 8, I am happy to report that I had success with most of my own disks.
