Mark IV - hand controller battery

2014-10-18 by mikeb44683@...

This is a very sophisticated group and I appreciate the expert knowledge I've gained from reading the posts. I have a basic question: It appears that my Mark IV hand-controller is due for a battery change. Will I lose any of it's programmed functionality by replacing the battery and/or in the process re-set? Thans, Mike

No, you will not lose any memory or any settings.

I am mostly certain that my Mark IV PDA hand-controller battery is dead since haven't had to change it since I bought the Mark IV 4 years ago and since it was used [new in 2008 I believe], the battery could be going on 7 years old. The hand-controller battery is a SHARP but I checked with the Yamaha piano dealer that I bought the piano from and they don't stock them. So, I found another brand with 'mostly' the same specs on-line capatible with the part no. EA-BL08 model. The description of the battery is identical except for the Sharp battery having a capacity rating of 1700 and this one having a capacity rating of 2000. The cost of the replacement was under $25. incl shipping. [not bad]. However, it isn't the exact SHARP battery that Yamaha equipped with the PDA hand-controller from the factory. Any issues??

No issues at all, I've replaced ours about 3 times over 9 years using generic EA-BL08 batteries. There are lots of options for ordering online
