Pedal Calibration

Hi All,

Is it usually necessary to perform a pedal calibration after moving a disklavier piano? Mine was recently moved from another city and now I notice that playing midi files back (from e-competition site etc) the amount of damper pedal is too much.

After rendering my own recordings I also notice the resulting WAV file to be too 'pedal heavy'.

Has anyone experienced the same issue?

Yes, it's very likely you need to have the damper pedal properly adjusted and then have the pedal calibrated. 

I recommend you have it done by Professional Disklavier Technician . 

On the Mark IV there is an option in the Service Center's extended menu.

Option 2) Disklavier Piano System
Then
Option 3) Plano Calibration - Full/
Then
Option 6) Petal-HP Adjustment

This tool will allow the tech to adjust where the Disklavier system thinks the Damper's Half Pedal sweet spot is to where it actually is. If that makes since...

My Disklavier is a MK II grand.   I have now found quite a lot of detail about pedal adjustment in the service manual.  After reading through it I think I will call in the experts to do any adjustments.  It looks like I could easily make things worse.Cheers,Kevin
