It sounds like PIANO TYPE on the DKC850 has not been set properly. Look in Chapter 2, page 15 of the owners manual. Make sure the setting is REPLACE.

I had a local tech come out and attempt to install the DKC-850 to update my DC3Mark IIXG grand piano.  After installation, the unit played the background accompaniments  but would not play the keys of the piano.  He had first attached a UD-FD01 to the unit so that my 50 floppies could be copied and/or played with the new unit.  Both the floppies ( the one or two he used ) and the CD that came with the DKC-850 worked to play the background music, but the piano itself just would not play.  When he reconnected the original DKC-500R unit, the floppies played both the keys and the background music.  Anyone encounter a similar problem and if so, how did you correct it?  Could there be a failure in the unit or the cable used to connect it?
