Mark had some good suggestions. I would try one of the cheap USB audio "cards" Might want to get something a little above the real cheap Chinese no name brands that have incomprehensible documentation. Sounds like the Mac is just too smart to use. Apple tends to think they know exactly what everyone wants and makes it impossible to depart from their program.

Did you do the command line audio hardware reset that was recommended in the link i sent?

I think you would be wasting your time trying to get Apple to fix the problem. You are not going to find a tech who knows anything about the requirements of the DKV. The only people who know that are Yamaha and Mark Fontana.

Thanks Spencer

I have not had much time to tackle the problem but it comes definitely from the Imac. I unearthed and old iMac G5 10.4.11 system from my basement which runs 10.4.11 os ans it plays faithfully the .wav files which are then recognised by the DKC and played perfectly: AH !

So now why the much newer Imac isnt able to do that is a mystery . I ve done eliminating games and found that it is not a software problem (it occurs with all kinds of players), nor a hardware problem as far as I can see ( same result from phone jack out, usb audio out, bluetooth out) ... so Im a bit at lost and the machine not being waranteed anymore Im hesitant to bring it to a service center with such a precise and undectable flaw...

Latest: I found that in the best cases the audio output is recognised by the DKC which outputs it but the sound is clipped like half second of music half second of silence, very regular and it goes on and on with NO midi piano part played though..

In the meantime I upgraded the Imac to the latest Sierra OS and things are not working as it should ... I have to downgrade ... no time for all those exercises LOL

Regards to everyone ; -)

I find the newer Macs just don't mesh well with older electronics. That is why I keep several different computers here. I use a Windows 7 laptop for Disklavier work yet I find I can also use that new Yamaha Bluetooth wireless interface with my iPhone 6s Plus. It plays midi files just fine but I think it also heats up the pedal solenoid.

I have an iMac, running Leopard so I can still use my Logic Pro 8 audio editing software. This computer can never be updated because my Pro Tools LE and Logic 8 will never work again.

So I bought an Mac Mini 5 years ago that I keep updated to the latest OS. I had to buy a new copy of Logic 9 and other music software. All Apple Music software these days as far as I am concerned is dumbed down for lossless formats . Even the Disklavier use MP3s and the speakers are not nearly as powerful as they were on the Mark IIIs.

Although people today are greatful for the quality of sound they get on limited storage space on their various devices, some of us remember the quality of sound from amplifiers with tubes, vinyl and wave files. The new hardware and software while supporting digital formats may not be as loud because so many people listen with headphones and ear buds.

So I say keep those old computers and use them on the older electronics.

Thanks Spencer for this suggestion of trying different usb or external players...
Thanks Carol for your comments on Macs audio and the general landscape as well. Ia m a bit curious about the Yamaha bluetooth do you have more infos? And in which way would it "heats up the pedal solenoid" since it connected to the main unit and not the piano ...?

Ill keep up and give feedback
Good day to everyone !
