Quiet mode faulty key

Quiet mode faulty key

2017-03-21 by mark.burby@...

Hi all,

Did a search but couldn't find a relevant thread. One of the keys on my MKIV in Quiet mode no longer produces any sound. In Acoustic mode it plays just fine. Midi playback is fine. It only affects one particular key. I'm assuming this is a sensor issue unless anyone can suggest other causes.

If it is a sensor issue, is it easy to fix? Is the part readily available? Is it expensive? I'm wondering if a temporary solution is to ask my local technician to swap the sensor with another at one end of the keyboard till a replacement arrives.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Mark

Good afternoon, everyone.

Mark, you might try recording a simple song file that uses that note and a couple of other notes. If you can record and play back that note, we know that the sensor is functioning.

If that note does not play when you play back your new recording, then the sensor failed to record it. It is possible that calibration of the piano will take care of the problem, essentially “waking up” the sensor. If not, your technician will have to look into the matter further.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
