Bluetooth BT01 trouble

Bluetooth BT01 trouble

2018-06-20 by Joe Palmer

Hi all,
I have a DC7A with the original controller. Works great. When I use the Yamaha MD-BT01 bluetooth adapter with my Ipad and Sweet Midi Player, most of the time it works very well. Trouble is it also quite often has (what I think is) latency. The song will be playing and there will be a slight but noticeable "skip of the beat". It's very intermittent and I can't find anything that makes it better or worse. It will happen with the Ipad 3 feet away or 20 feet away. It happens with 2 different Ipads. It's very annoying. Any suggestions would be great.
Next, I'm an Apple guy. Everything here is Apple. I really like SMP but the version for the desktop doesn't have a random play function and I don't like hearing stuff over and over in the same order. Does anyone know a good app/program that will allow me to play my Midi's from a Mac through a USB/Midi adapter? Something like SMP that has playlists but also has a random play feature? I do have a VERY old Windows XP computer that I used for working with the 3.5 floppies and it has VanBascos player on it. That does what I want but I don't want to have the massive box, additional keyboard, etc. around just to do that. Again, any help would sure be great.
Thanks for looking at this.

Hi Joe

I have the MD-BT01 connected to a DC3 Mk IV. I connect to it using an iPad Pro and Sweet Midi Player and never have a problem. I also connect with a laptop (Windows 10) running VanBasco. Unfortunately, VanBasco can’t output a signal to a midi Bluetooth device so I send it via a dedicated wifi network (router under piano) using a wireless USB link (IOGear GUWIP204 Wireless 4-port USB sharing station) and I have the same problem you are having with the iPad - playing pauses and after a few seconds a bunch of bunched-up notes hits the piano. I wish I knew a solution and sorry I can’t help. At least you know it can work properly with an iPad.

Kind regards

Geoff Ward

Thanks Geoff but maybe knowing it does work elsewhere seems to make me feel bad. But I am thankful for your response.Joe
