Does this mean that Yamaha is updating the DKC-850? I’m interested in upgrading my MkIIPro but willing to wait if a new, better unit is coming Thanks, James Sent from my iPhone

Good evening, everyone. James, I don’t know how to advise you. However, I would like to point out that the DKC-850 does not support the XP data feature of the PRO. Regards, PianoBench

I am not aware of any sources of XP files other than Piano-e-Competition files and files that Disklavier owners record themselves on a PRO. PianoBench

I am not so sure that XP really means that much in terms of the potential enjoyment of the music. A good standard MIDI performance is really good enough (if Yamaha didn't decide to dump a significant portion of the MIDi velocity range by starting at vel 30 and ending at whatever they end at) A single aspect of the music such as the resolution of velocity is not what makes a performance. I have a Live Performance LX system and its resolution is better than the XP enhancement but it is really other aspects of the performance that make the music magic when it is. I just bought a 9 ft Knabe piano that I am migrating my LX system to. Having the piano hand played after doing a bit of regulation, I am pretty much convinced that the fine piano will contribute a lot to the enjoyment of the overall experience. If anyone is interested in "Spencer's theory of musical appreciation" I could probably give an attempt at putting it into writing.Best regards, Spencer Chase
