Hamamatsu Japan YAMAHA co, said DKC-850 have finished production. 
The sale ends when all the stock is sold out.
There is no successor model for DKC-850.(-_-;).

Does this mean that Yamaha is updating the DKC-850? I’m interested in upgrading my MkIIPro but willing to wait if a new, better unit is coming

James, I don’t know how to advise you. However, I would like to point out that the DKC-850 does not support the XP data feature of the PRO.

I am not aware of any sources of XP files other than Piano-e-Competition files and files that Disklavier owners record themselves on a PRO.

I am not so sure that XP really means that much in terms of the potential enjoyment of the music. A good standard MIDI performance is really good enough (if Yamaha didn't decide to dump a significant portion of the MIDi velocity range by starting at vel 30 and ending at whatever they end at) A single aspect of the music such as the resolution of velocity is not what makes a performance. I have a Live Performance LX system and its resolution is better than the XP enhancement but it is really other aspects of the performance that make the music magic when it is. I just bought a 9 ft Knabe piano that I am migrating my LX system to. Having the piano hand played after doing a bit of regulation, I am pretty much convinced that the fine piano will contribute a lot to the enjoyment of the overall experience.

If anyone is interested in "Spencer's theory of musical appreciation" I could probably give an attempt at putting it into writing.

I put dozens of 'performances' through my Enspire, each week.
Spencer is so right about 'good Standard MIDI'.
Yes, it is wonderful to have all the extra nuances afforded by XP when recording a live played performance, but XP alone does not guarantee pleasing results. I 'audition' every MIDI I play, to ensure it is AS THE PIANIST INTENDED. I nuance and adjust where needed. Of course, a century after a piano roll was made, it gets a bit difficult to say with certainty what was intended – so I correct whatever IS obviously unintended – such as an extreme note velocity attributed to a note by software misreading expression holes.

THANK YOU SPENCER, by the way, for your thousands of scans of reproducing rolls. So many of us are indebted to you, daily.

I think we would all like to know if the DKC-850 replacement will give us all the backward compatibility of still being able to play our CD collections – otherwise the DKC-850 will remain in high demand for that reason alone. Home conversion to transfer Yamaha CD content onto hard drive, has so far proved impossible for me, and Yamaha lags behind in making favourite old tracks, previously available on their CDs, newly available, as downloads for their current generation of pianos.

There are so many remarkably fine performances available on standard MIDI. The analogy can be drawn with performances on audio disc recordings still being regarded as definitive, despite the technologically superior recordings of today. ;
NOTE TO YAMAHA: There is money to be made from converting old libraries to play on new formats. Remember LPs going to CD?
