DC2A III - Misses notes playing soft

DC2A III - Misses notes playing soft

2002-03-30 by dsmith942@excite.com

I have a 6 month old DC2A mark III which misses notes playing some Yamaha disks when played at (-6) or softer. My previous DGHB II played these same disks well at softer settings than this even.

The technician did a calibration when he tuned my DC2A, in fact did the procedure twice, and consulted with Mark W of Yamaha on the phone while here. Is is possible that the "calibration" which he did was not the proper medicine for this symptom, or maybe the procedure was not done correctly or something? The process he went through a couple times had the piano playing from ppp to FFF all up and down the keyboard, but as it did the softer notes, it did miss many, as I recall. He told me that the procedure was to define the point at thich the hammer moved and not necessarily to play each note. (or something like this).

Anyway, the problem remains. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Dave in Florida.

There is another procedure that can be done on that model. It involves
resetting the key sensors with the keys being recalibrated at three
different positions. Mark W may be sending your technician this information
as it is kind of buried in the technical manual.

Also, make sure your DKV has the latest update. Version 4.33 came out a
couple of weeks ago.
