Hello friends,

Permit me to introduce myself.

I am rather new to the group. I have recently acquired a Disklavier XG which
plays but does not record. I am a 62 year old retired electrical engineer and
educator who resides in Fort Worth, Texas. I have lived here for well over 30
years.

I maintain a rather large and eclectic homepage
http://members.aol.com/DrSwiney My hobby is reading mystery books. I then
write crossword puzzles over them. I now have over 270 of them on one of the
pages on my Internet site. Alas, my site has nothing on the Disklavier. [yet]

I have been downloading hours of piano midi files from the Internet and of
course files of the recent Yahama sponsored competition. I would welcome
suggestions.

I find that for some of my downloads I would like to change [or add] the
title as it appears in my Disklavier window. I would also like to change the
instrument designation. [Say from piano 2 to piano 1] I am not a music
professional. I would like to obtain some simple inexpensive program that
allows one to make these changes to a midi file. Can someone make a
suggestion?

Regards,

John S. Morgan

Welcome to the group !
I suggest you will install a sequence programm like XG works (Yamaha) or
Cakewalk or Cubase on a PC or Laptop and conncet this to your Disklavier
through MIDI or To Host connection. Then you can change very easaly the
channels on wich the disklavier has to play wich instrument.
If you want to record, you can also use this setup. In stead of recording
on the disklavier control unit you can record on the PC using the sequence
program.
Some sites with music:
www.prs.net especially for classical music
www.midifarm.com for all kind of popular music
www.yamaha.co.jp the homepage of Yamaha in Japan (available in English)
www.yamaha-europe.com the homepage of Yamaha Europe, with links to
different pages with a lot of music and knowledge about disklavier etcetera.

succes with the disklavier,

with best regards,
