Hello to all,

I always enjoy following the group "on the side", and most recently the
string about used vs. new. I just bought a used Dodge Durango with 64,000
miles on it as well as EVERY option offered when it was new. I'm
thrilled.... Because I had it checked out by a mechanic and have a 90 day
3,000 warranty on it.

The BIG issue..... pianos that are not made for the North American climate
will NOT provide you with certain long term service here. And, Yamaha
Corporation of American cannot provide you with warranty support..... even
though it kills us personally to see a consumer get burned by the gray market
dealers. PianoBench and I were just at a trade show in Salt Lake and met yet
another person who bought great USA destination uprights then a gray market
grand. The grand, which she "really got a deal on" is now falling apart as
it dries out. What can we do to convince everyone? Not EVERY "wet" Yamaha
piano will crash, but I just don't think it's worth the risk.

Also, I could not ever agree more that you must try ANY piano you are
considering before you buy it. The Yamaha, model for model is the most
consistent product in the market. But, each one of ours has it's own
personality as well.... New or used.
