Connecting a computer to a Disklavier

Connecting a computer to a Disklavier

2003-08-27 by Carol Beigel

In response to the fellow looking for an owner's manual so he could connect
his Disklavier to a computer, I have prepared an illustrated explanation on
my website. I have been working on the Handbook of MIDI Player Tools for
the last 3 years, and it is still under construction. These are the written
and illustrated versions of conversations I have with my own clients.
Perhaps you will find some of the articles on piano care helpful.

The website is www.carolrpt.com To access the Connecting a Computer
section, go to the MIDI PLayer Tools from the Home Page. To see what else
is there, just click What's Here.

Carol,
Your site is a gem for Disklavier owners. I can't wait till it's finished. I added it to the Links page of the group website (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/disklavier/links/). Have you been keeping this a secret or have I just been asleep? Thanks again.

Glad you liked the site! I have been working on for years and finally feel
it might be ready enough to be of more use than shameless self promotion! I
had to learn everything from scratch, just like everyone else who ever
designed a website or played with a Disklavier. People who own Disklaviers,
or other MIDI players, are generally very busy and have limited time for a
learning curve. My goal is to explain the basics with pictures and refer
you elsewhere for the more technical details. The other reason I have
designed this site is that I get asked the same questions over and over, and
I know the pitfalls. I am always open to new suggestions!
