Looking to buy Disklavier

2003-10-08 by barrymccar@aol.com

Hello!

I am new to the group and am working to acquire a Disklavier, but can't afford $30K for a new DC1A.

Two questions (sorry if these have been answered many times before):

1) Any good source or bulletin board to find a quality used instrument? I would prefer any model 5'3" (black), but would enjoy an upright as well. I am already watching eBay regularly.

2) If I can find a good used Mark II, can it be upgraded to Mark III functionality? Any ideas about cost? Is this a bad idea?

Thanks.

Barry

I paid under $11K + tax for a new Mark III upright (DU1A) and am very happy
with it. You're probably better off with this than buying an older unit and
trying to upgrade.

Hows it goin. Ive got some good leads on used pianos. I just picked up a DC7A for 20k in mint shape.
Im a composer here in Utah and have some good friends that rep Yamaha here.
Tell me what you want to spend and I'll check into it for ya. I know theve got another like mine for 25 but that may be to much for ya. I think they just got a DC1A mark III for 18k. But anyway let me know what you want to do.
Good Luck

Looking to buy Disklavier grand

2003-11-10 by tillsbury2000

Hi there,

I'm in New Zealand (with an MX100-II), looking to buy a larger grand
(either a 6A or 7A), and given the price of the US Dollar, probably
looking to buy one from over there! I note that Chamberlain Music
in the UK are now offering new DC6A's for around the US$30k mark, so
it doesn't sound like an impossibility.

If anyone (and you in particular, Lance) hears of any other 'mint
shape' DC7A's going for anywhere around US$20k, I would love it if
you'd let me know. Obviously I'd have to pay for professional
shipping on top...

Best regards

Charles
