Greetings midi_magic2000,

We are also working on our own MIDI file player. It is made just for
MIDI files and has extensive and easy playlist capabilities. Currently
it supports text formats of several manufacturers and displays the
file name and track one name for those that do not have complying text
formats. It makes playing from the computer a much improved
experience. The next feature to add is tempo control which will be
happening soon. We will be adding features as time permits.

The player may be found at:

New MIDI player install package www.spencerserolls.com/Player/Package.zip
Manual for Player www.spencerserolls.com/Player/Installing_and_Using_the_MIDI_File_Player.doc

please also look over the rest of the site for information on MIDI
files from reproducing piano rolls. There are currently 2500
available.

WindPlay

2003-11-14 by Peter Phillips

Hi All
I notice a mention of WindPlay. In case members are not aware of its
features, here's a short rundown.

It was written by Richard Brandle (Texas) to operate a device called a
PowerRoll, an attachment for a pneumatic piano. It was intended to play a
midi file derived from a scan of a piano roll. However, it also includes an
emulator for piano roll expression coding into MIDI velocity values.

I use WindPlay to play my Ampico roll scans into the Disklavier. It has
several advantages over using MIDI files, not the least of which is the
graphical representation of the piano roll. A really useful feature is the
ability to adjust the emulation to suit the piano and the listening
environment. You can set the minimum and maximum levels independently, and
if the piano does not have a soft pedal actuator (like the PianoDisc),
WindPlay will emulate it. It costs $50, by email from Richard Brandle.
