[disklavier] file conversions

[disklavier] file conversions

2000-03-02 by John Leslie

While browsing thru the vault I cam across some zipped "new age" files. After unzipping them, I find that the file extensions on these files are *.fil
What type of files are these? Are there any conversion utilities to convert these files to midi files?

They are first generation disklavier files. I have an early model
disklavier and that is the extension that is put on the files.

I use conversion soptware from Giebler to convert them to midi. It works
well although it is older dos software. If yu would like you can email the
files as an attachment and I can convert them and send them back to you. I
might take a while but i can do it for you.

John
I think I am right in saying that these are Disklavier format (E-Seq) files
There were some utitlities available on e-groups that enabled easy conversion/management of these files (DKUTILS) - not sure if they are still there. I may be able to help if you can't find them. One of the util programs takes these files and creates a dir files that the DKV needs to deliver an index to the display.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
