ESEQ files

ESEQ files

2004-10-31 by James Fry

Hello all,

I am looking at writing some Java music software that I would like to be
able to read the ESEQ files saved from my Disklavier (and I believe also
my SY85 and other synths).

Does anyone know of a file specification anywhere on the internet, or that
I can get hold of from Yamaha somehow? I've spent a lot of time on google
and not really come up with anything yet - is it going to be a matter of
reverse engineering the format myself?

Thanks,

James

Mark,

Thankyou very much for posting this - it is exactly what I was looking
for. I remember your midi to pianodisc cd program - did you ever get very
far in decoding the format for Yamaha CD's? If not I might be interested
in working with you on it once I have my disklavier again (I've moved
house and am slowly doing the place up, but don't want my shiny piano here
until all the dust has (literally) settled!).

Thanks again,

James

Yamaha released this document a few years back:

   http://dp70.dyndns.org/tmp/eseq_format_spec.pdf

Note that it is missing a few small details, such as the storage of the
two-line LCD titles. So a small amount of reverse-engineering will still
be necessary.

Good luck!

James, I'm desperate to have the disklavier format decoded so Mark
can include full disklavier support in his program. I can't help
technically, but if funds are required I could contribute :-)
