Playing MIDI files on DGH1BXG

Playing MIDI files on DGH1BXG

2005-01-04 by voiptechman

I used to be able to play MID files on my playback only XG model.
Now all I get when I put in the diskette is "Please Wait" and a lot
of clicking. I thought I was also able to read/play HD diskettes on
this system. Can anyone give me some clues? Thanks.

Could be a bad disk drive. Do the Yamaha PianoSoft
disks play? If not, then it is the disk drive. Also,
your piano will play MIDI format 0 files (don't think
it plays MIDI format 1 from the floppy drive though).
Do not mix file formats on the diskette.

Yes, it plays the PianoSoft disks just fine, painioo only as well as
enhanced through the tone generator. I'll make sure the MIDIs are
Format 0 files or will convert them if they aren't. I would still
like to know if this machine will play high density floppies. I
have a feeling it won't.

It should be able to use both DD and HD floppy disks,
but only plays MIDI format 0 files and Yamaha ESEQ
files.

One more silly follow-up question, please: how do I know if a MIDI
file is a format 0 or a format 1? Thanks.
