Re: Midi to Wav, then to MP3
2005-03-01 by Terry Smythe
In response to an appeal for a utility to migrate a midi file into MP3, perhaps the answer lies in converting the midi file into wav format first. I have found a first rate utility that does this exceedingly well. See: http://onefreehost.com/saxguru/Timidity.html Timidity has a killer piano sound font built into it, and does the conversion silently real time. So, as a midi tune "plays", it makes the conversion. It will work in batch mode, so set it in motion late at night, and wake up to a full package of great wav formated files. Then, migrating from wav to MP3 is a very simple process achievable by many utilities out there, simultaneous with burning a CD. Give it a whirl.
