Haunted Mark IV

2006-12-04 by jaallc

I have a new Mark IV, it's been in my living room now for about three
weeks (turned on all the time). The other day, with nobody else in the
house, at 2pm it started playing. I was upstairs and heard it start,
when I came down to investigate it was playing normally (as if someone
had pushed Play). Anyone ever have this happen before? Any ideas? If
it happens again I will call my dealer for support but I was curious if
I was alone on this problem of it someone else had experienced (and/or
solved) it ...

Thanks!
Jason

Do you have any timers? I one day set a timer, just for jollies to
play. It never got cancelled, but I usually shut the thing down when
I'm not using the using the control unit. One day it got left on
and started up it's programmed sequence.

If it was playing "Music of the Night", it is haunted, run!

I didn't even know you could set a timer ... so I don't think so.
Plus it's been on non-stop for three weeks so I imagine any timer set
would have already triggered a few times. I'll go explore and see if
I can find where timers are set though, just in case.

Thanks!

The latest update of Mark IV software allows you to schedule songs to be played at certain
times of the day or night. Possibly someone programmed this feature to play the song at
2pm.

I tried it when I updated my software and this feature does work. I would suspect that
since you have had your Mark IV for several weeks that it came with the latest software
and someone was playing with this feature and programmed it to do so.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, the docs sort of indicate you'd use this more for the hotel
lobby/Nordstrom's idea where it would come on at the opening and
shutoff at close and has specific warnings about the duty cycle
that you can run (at least the MarkIII) player mechanism.
