Question about Disklavier Control Unit

Question about Disklavier Control Unit

2007-01-06 by jayjwagner1

I own a Disklavier Piano model MX-85 P which comes with a Disklavier Control Unit - DKC5R.
It uses the 3.5 " diskette to play the piano. I want to know if there is a way to upgrade this to
a newer control unit or have some modification that can be controled from a computer. Be
aware I am new to this and I am looking to get rid of the floppy. I have been able to create
floppies in the past to play on the piano but ... the technology is very outdated.

Any thoughts,

Jay Wagner

Yes Jay,

The Yamaha UX-16, about $50 allows you to connect the USB port of a PC
to the midi in/out ports on the back of your controller. You may then
play standard midi format files from your PC. Very cool and reasonable
programs out there for editing and composing. Lots of free stuff too.
