Search for Message #5419, there is a previous discussion about .mid and .kar
and what format is used for Mark IV.

Lyrics only display on the tablet for Mark IV.
These midi files must be Tune 1000 type midis.
You can use gnmidi program to convert to this type of midi format.
The extension is .mid

Hope this helps.

PS I have really not found any good midis online that are in the .kar format to convert that
worked well on the tablet. I have not purchased any Tune 1000 karaoke type midis yet to
see how well they work. I did run enough of a test case to verify that yes the words do
show up on the tablet. I wanted to make sure that feature truly worked on my Mark IV.

Good evening, everyone.

Regarding the discussion of lyrics below:

You can see lyrics displayed on a TV monitor connected to the video out port of the Mark IV's I/O Center.

Tune 1000 MIDI files are not great files for Disklavier, regrettably. Tune 1000 created the files with the intention of making them sound as much like the original bands as possible. Typically, the bands whose songs they recorded did not have a piano. Therefore, few of these MIDI files have a piano part and those that do rarely have an interesting piano part.

Smart PianoSoft recordings have the best playback Disklavier experience for pop and rock song files because an interesting piano part was added to the original recordings--and the original recordings sound better than Tune 1000 because they are the original, audio recordings, not a MIDI recreation. Regrettably, these Smart PianoSoft files do not contain lyrics.

Regards,
PianoBench

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
