Cakewalk / Disklavier

Cakewalk / Disklavier

2001-01-11 by John Thorne

I have purchased Cakewalk and would like to use it edit and
primary play (jukebox)midi files to my Yamaha DGAIXG Piano.

I am using a Vaio W2000 laptop with a Midiman USB Midisport 1x1 adapter.

I do not how to set this up.

I have installed CakeWalk, I can open midi files and play them
thru the laptop speaker. I have set( I think) the piano (DKC100XG)
to use the external midi in port, connected a cable from the adapter
midi out to the piano midi in. I have tried each one of the output
ports as follows.

Output ports:
Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth
Microsoft MIDI Mapper
ESS FM Synthesizer
ESS MPU-401

Shouldn't there be s USB midisport port ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

I have a Midiman USB Midisport 2x2 that I connect to my notebook for use
with my Pianodisc system to send midi files to my piano with Cakewalk.

Have you installed the driver software that comes with the Midisport device?
I've had my Midiman adapter for about a year and had it set up with Windows
'98. I tried to set it up with Windows 2000 and had to go to the the
Midiman web site to download drivers specifically for Windows 2000.
Unfortunately, I haven't got it working with Windows2000 (I just gave up and
used Windows ME instead).

If you have the Midiman installed correctly, within the Cakewalk software,
choose the OPTIONS menu, then MIDI DEVICES. You should see the Midiman USB
show up in the list for you to select for Midi Input and Midi Output.

I downloaded the latest driver from midisport
and got everything to work with

You need to read the readme file with the drivers
after the standard install from win2000, you need to
manually install another file that is spelled out in
the instructions

thank you
