09/12/2007 Dear All, The Floppy Disk Drive in control unit DKC100R of my Yamaha Disklavier HQ100Wn (serial no. 5244075) is no longer working. This Floppy Disk Drive is model MF355E-492MD from Mitsubishi. Can anyone tell me where I can buy a spare unit ? I think my Floppy Disk Drive is rather old and will be difficult to find. Can anyone tell me what other newer models can be installed in place of my old Floppy Disk Drive ? Thanks for any help. Surakit

Past posts have noted that is not directly compatible with standard ide floppy drives. Many DKs have a Panasonic floppy. A while back, someone was looking for a replacement drive and it came up that the Panasonic has something unique in its settings. I did a search at the time and found someone who had access to the Panasonic drives and knew how to make the modification to adapt it to older DKs. Maybe there is a dip switch or jumpers that need to be set. I have some old 1.44 drrives and I see that one of them has a break off tab that makes it compatible with an different cable. This may be the solution. If you took your drive to a computer shop that has been around since days of old, they might recognize the difference. The issue is about density. You model number ends in MD. Maybe that means medium density. Check with these people. They fix floppy drives. http://www.mfarris.com/floppy/mitsubishi1.html Mark in Idaho Paul J wrote:

The Yamaha part number for this is V6536400. I would call their parts department, they may still have them in stock.

Hello to all!! I would like to be able to play "ensemble" midi files using the sound card in my laptop for the sound module. Anyone know how to do that? I'm running XP SP2, have a EDIROL UM-1ek midi-usb interface. Midi files with piano only play fine from Yamplayer, but not sure how to set up the sound card using the internal GS Wavetable for GM sounds? Or is it always necessary to convert Type 1 to Type 0?? I have the complete group of DKUTILS. Thanks for any help, MikeBing _____ From: disklavier@yahoogroups.com [mailto:disklavier@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Mark Sent: Sunday, December 09, 2007 5:32 PM To: disklavier@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [disklavier] Replacement for damaged Floppy Disk Drive in DKC100R Check this place. maybe they can help with a floppy disk drive. http://www.hometown <http://www.hometown.aol.com/mishon66/Drives1.html> .aol.com/mishon66/Drives1.html urakit.satcharattanachot wrote:

Greetings MikeBing, I have not used Yamplayer but I assume that you can direct the output to any MIDI device. You can use MidiOx (use the yoke facility) to connect to multiple devices. You can send the output from Yamplayer to one of the Midi yokes and send the output from MidiOx to both the synth and the piano. You may have to fiddle with volume settings etc to get the piano to not play on the synth but still have it play on the piano.
