[disklavier] Great set of utilities just uploaded to vault.

1999-12-07 by Todd Muncy

Richard Stibbons, a contributing member of our group, sent me a suite of midi/disklavier programs he developed. I have been using them about a week with great success, which is why many of my recent uploads have been ESEQ and not MIDI. Today he kindly gave me permission to share them with the group. I have uploaded the file dkvutil.zip to the utilities folder in the vault. The documentation file is part of the zip file. Do not distribute them outside the group without Richard's permission.

Buffy,
See the message I just sent to Howard about uploading to the vault. You will probably want to click on the files themselves to download rather than upload. Have you downloaded Winzip yet? Have you mastered zipping & unzipping? Hang in there, it's not as difficult as it seems.

Wow! I really like Veloset! It just saved me tons of time with some files that I'll be uploading to the vault shortly. There are a couple of things I'd like to suggest:
1) A "Save As" feature so I don't have to overwrite my files (Luckily I was working on a copy :)
2) A way to select a single track to modify. This would allow me to change only the piano track and leave the others alone, as I can adjust the volume on my stereo better than I can on the Disklavier.
Thanks a ton to Richard for this quick and easy tool!!
(This tool alone might stop some of the complaining on the DUG alias too, I'd think. ;)

Annette
Thanks for your kind words about Veloset. I should have warned everyone that it overwrites the original file ! Sorry. We did this in a hurry and have become so used to it's ways we never went any further. Have you discovered that it works on Diskalvier format files as well as MIDI. ?
It would become a much more complicated beast all together if we start adding the ability to differentiate between tracks. I suggest you use Cakewalk or similar for that !

I hadn't discovered the Disklavier format too. That should be wonderful!! I'll be able to make quieter versions of all my favorites with these utilities. Thank you so much!!
I was using Cake Walk to change things and it was taking me forever. :) ; Your Veloset is so much faster and easier. Just wonderful.
Thanks again!

Wow - I've just discovered the utilities in the vault! At last some
software to use in conjunction with my Disklavier. Thank you, thank
you, thank you.

I can at last backup my files to cd and not worry about my floppies
dying!

Thank you again!

Daryl
