WIDI vs. Midair

WIDI vs. Midair

2008-05-17 by Terry Fein

I have been using two pairs of the M-Audio Midair to connect a DCD1 to a Disklavier controller. (The DCD1 is connected to my stereo on the other side of the room.). The Midair devices (or at least one of them) have quit on me. After checking various possibilities, I have concluded that I will likely need to replace one or both pairs.
All of this leads to my question. For my set-up, if I got the WIDI instead of the Midair, would I need only one pair, or would I have to get two? A wired system would require two MIDI cables.

With the WIDI you should only need a single pair - it is a full duplex MIDI
wireless.

Thanks. How would it be hooked up? Are there two MIDI connections on each end--out and one in, to connect to the MIDI out and MIDI in on the controller and on the DCD1?
