Disklavier mk4 lost acoustic playback

Disklavier mk4 lost acoustic playback

2008-07-12 by yeloc2

my 6 month old mk4 no longer will play back midi or any other songs
except on quiet mode. these are the same songs that I have played for
months that are piano songs and now when you push acoustic, it just
goes quiet. any suggestions thanks twilloo1@...

Yeloc2 -

I had a similar problem on my MarkIV less than a month after we acquired it. I called the dealer who suggested the following:

1. Turn off the DKV.
2. Unplug the DKV.
3. Wait five minutes.
4. Plug it in again. You should hear the DKV in "reboot" mode after you plug it in.
5. Once the DKV is fully "on" again, try playing a song.

This worked for us, and we've had no problems since (bearing in mind we only acquired the DKV on May 31).

According to our dealer over 90% of the issues with the MarkIV can be solved by this "unplug and restart" procedure. If this doesn't work, I'd suggest you call your dealer.

Mike

Just contact your Yamaha dealer or technician. It should be easily fixable and most likely under warranty.

I've had this happen occasionally over the years -- seems like there should be a more elegant solution -- software patch, Yamaha?

Had that problem.
Shutting down the piano and restarting it temporarily fixed it for me.
Then my delightful dealer St John's Music in Calgary came out and checked all the diagnostics and cleaned all of the cable contacts and reseated them. Seemed to make a difference.
Thank you John Wright!

The first thing I would do is to go into the 'Service Centre' on the main menu (not the interface menu) and go through the 'Pedal Calibration' procedure. If this doesn't work or help, I would get your dealer to send out a technician who is familiar with Disklaviers. There may be a problem with the sustain pedal which could mean one of several possible fixes.
