RE: [disklavier]

#1 -- I asked Yamaha how to do this, and they sent me off to get
a MIDIMAN MIDI-to-analog-MIDI tape recorder interface to burn
MIDI files onto PC CDs.
#2 -- I've tried just putting MIDIs onto CD and the Mark III DC6A
I have doesn't recognize them that way ... but I haven't had time
to test the MIDIMAN interface I bought at Yamaha's suggestion.
So ... how do you get your MIDI files onto CD so that Mark III
recognizes them? We have been unable to so far.
Thx!

If you have Mark III disklavier or Mark II with new DCD CD rom
player you
can burn midifiles with the computer on CD and then it is
possible to play
this CD on disklavier. In this way you can burn 650 MB midifiles
(maybe for
a week music) on a CD and you can let the disklavier play for
hours and
hours. I am still trying to find out how to make soft plus audio
CD's by
myself, that's the combination the new Mark III is using, audio
plus midi.

You would have to create "wave" files through your computer sound
card, then
burn them to a writable CD. Take the recordings on your cassette
tapes, use
software like Cool Edit or maybe some software that came with
your soundcard
that makes .wav files and create the waves files.
Disklavier files are MIDI-type files and not audio files, so I
find unusual
that you can "export" this music to a tape deck. If you are
using a
microphone to record your disklavier playing, then you are
creating perhaps
digital audio files?
Unfortunately, you cannot put MIDI files on a CD and play them
through the
Disklavier.
