Mark II XG Disklavier

Mark II XG Disklavier

2009-05-28 by usdisk

Hello, I am in the process of trying to sell my still very new looking MPX1 of the Mark II XG Series. A person interested in buying had 2 questions which I could not answer:
1. How many minutes can a 1.44 MB HD Diskette record when playing a "normal" classical song
2. Is it today (May 2009) still possible to get the CD- storage device (is it called DCD1?) on the market in order to be able to record musical pieces which last approximately 20-30 minutes.

Thank you all for helping me out
Uli

You should be able to record around 2 hours of solo piano music on an
HD floppy using your piano.

I do not believe that the DCD1 is still available from Yamaha. If you
found one used, you would have to record to floppy (or directly to
your computer), and then use a program to convert the MIDI data to
MIDI encoded as audio, and then burn the audio to a CD.

Alternatively, you might consider simply storing all of the MIDI
recordings on the computer and playing them back from their. Using a
MIDI player with a playlist feature, the piano could be set up to play
for hours.

The DCD-1's have been unavailable for quite a few years. The alternative
is to hook the Disklavier up to a computer (laptop) and use software to
handle the playlist.

I think a floppy disk can hold about 45 minutes of music. Thats what my
mark II XG does anyway.

laptop; DCD1-disklavier

2009-08-12 by uripto uripto

Hello Mark,
You said the laptop/computer+software is an alternative to control disklavier. Do you or someone knows how to install and explain about this system. What we need for doing this and how to set up the equipment?. Where can I find more information about this.
Thanks and I appreciate to you all for the attention and response.

Hi

One very good program is Yam player found here:

http://www.carolrpt.com/softwaredwnld.htm

It will allow you to create a play list of any length, so your DKV could be playing 24/7.

All you need to do is have the files, Pianosoft or Midi, on the HDD.

Dave

Will this program allow you to play the MusicSoft software for newer
Disklavier models such as the DCD-1 supposedly would? Being able to only play
diskettes severely limits the music available. I desperately would like
access to more software.
