The manual I have for the DSR1 says that for the MX100 Disklaviers you must
do the following EVERYTIME you want to record on the DSR1 since the KBD OUT
mode is cancelled when you power off your piano.
1. Insert the 2DD disk formatted for the Disklavier into the disk drive on
your piano. (I think you can use HD disks IBM formatted for recording SMF
(standard MIDI files)
2. Press the [MIDI] button on your piano.
3. Press the [REC]button on your piano. The KBD OUT mode is engaged.
Note: Steps 1 to 3 must be performed each time you use the DSR1 with your
piano.
So, yes, you must engage the KBD OUT mode everytime you want to record after
the Disklavier has been turned off.
