Sibelius/Finale

Sibelius/Finale

2009-11-28 by Roberto Fasciani

Has anyone used Sibelius or Finale to scan printed music and play it on a Disklavier?
Yes! I used both. With Finale you have only to import the MIDI file saved in another sequencer program like Cakewalk and save it with high sensitivity (just to avoid some fast note to be omitted).
Do the right and left hands both play acoustically, and can each be muted separately?
I used a trick: save your score separately for left and right hand selecting and deleting the other whole hand in the score.
You got 2 MIDI files with a single hand. Now import these 2 files in Cakewalk (or similiar) and assign them two separate channels (and obviouosly instrument = piano). You will get a new MIDI with separate channels for each hand you may mute at your will. Or simply use the file with the hand you need. I used yhis way several times to learn separately left and right hand.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
