DKC-850 Spec Sheet

DKC-850 Spec Sheet

2010-03-09 by Freeman Richard

For those owners of early Mark II and Mark III Disklaviers looking to upgrade the control unit, please find attached a specification sheet supplied by Yamaha USA. I'm told by Yamaha that this unit will be available in May.

All things considered, I'm excited about this. It will be nice to move away from 3.5 inch floppies and enjoy some of the newer features, such as Piano Soft plus Audio and Disklavier Radio.

We probably are not supposed to discuss it, but any idea on the price. I have a Mark DUA1 (I think that's it). You can email me privately if you know.

Thanks.

Good evening, everyone.

I don't think that this list has a problem with price discussion. (DUG, which is sponsored by Yamaha, is another matter).

I don't know if retailers will discount the item, but I can tell you that the suggested list price is $1,495.

In addition to the hardware, it comes with a CD that includes 445 song files (assuming that I counted them accurately).

The song files are broken down into these categories:

--50 Greats for the Piano
--30 Pop
--20 Holiday
--20 Traditional and Country
--20 Sacred
--30 BGM Classic
--30 BGM Pop
--140 Lesson Beyer
--30 Lesson Czerny
--25 Lesson Burgmüller
--15 Bach Inventions
--45 Lesson Sonatinen Album 1
--5 SmartKey

Once nice feature of the unit is that its functions execute much more quickly.

Regards,
PianoBench

Is the installation simply enough for a do-it-yourselfer or does the local Yamaha dealer need to install it?

Thanks in advance.

Very easy, both technically and physically. Very clear instructions
and diagrams.

Hi all,

It looks that the DKC-850's USB port will allow an external floppy drive to
connect to it if needed.

From the Google translated page link below, which Richard posted a while back,
the Yamaha UD-FD01 USB floppy can be interfaced to the DKC-850.

Without doing this, what is the recommended way to take all existing MIDI/ESEQs
on 3.5" 'floppy' disk over to CD? Can the DKC-850 read a PC DOS-formatted USB
memory stick should you have these file types on it?

Is there a newer English-based on-line Yamaha link for the DKC-850?

You can plug USB devices into the DKC-850, including floppy drives.
Not sure if there are hardware or copy-protection issues.
