[disklavier] DKC-850 and Smart PianoSoft titles
2010-08-05 by Chine-Chine Wang
Good afternoon, everyone.Carol's remark about her Mark IIXG not having the ability to adjust the pitch of the CD during playback is because she had to use the add-on DCD1 in order to get the CD feature. Presumably this will not be a problem if the original Mark IIXG control unit and DCD1 are replaced with a DKC-850.Regards,PianoBenchOn Jul 18, 2010, at 10:55 AM, Carol Beigel wrote:
If you look in the Yamaha PianoSoft catalog (online or hardcopy), you will
see that they sell floppies (with MIDI files that actually play your piano
keys) that go along with original audio CD recordings. You must match the
floppy with the serial number of the CD. It is called PianoSoft Plus Audio.
You can buy the CDs separately like on Amazon.com. I have several of these
and especially like hearing the piano play along with the John Williams
collections and the Harry Potter movie soundtrack. A good example of the
MarkIII and IV capabilities ability to transpose the audio is the original
Broadway version of Fiddler on the Roof. Theodore Bikel sings between the
notes, but the Disklaviers transpose his singing to sound good with the
piano tuned to A440. My MarkIIXG does not have that ability, so the singing
sounds a bit out of tune with my Disklavier. Make certain that the audio CD
is the correct one for matching the floppy, i.e. the movie soundtracks are
either the movie or the broadway versions.
