Re: [disklavier]

I bought my midiman interface from QRS in Seneca, Pa. and they probably still sell them. It allowed my to play QRS CDs with the MIDI tracks on my Disklavier from a Sony Walkman CD player. Before PianoDisc started encrypting their CDs a few years back, you could even play PianoDisc CDs but not Yamaha CDs. I own a MarkIIXG Disklavier. I did acquire a DCD1 Yamaha CD Disklavier CD player and it works fine for the Yamaha audio CDs with midi. Those are called PianoSoft Plus Audio. The new DKC850 works great. I had one installed on my piano for a couple of weeks to see what it could do but eventually had to turn it over to the customer. Only audo CDs with midi tracks will actually play your piano. Audio is usually people singing or the orchestra - however the midi orchestras you hear with the tone generator are pretty good to my ear. You can't just take any old CD EVER and expect it to play the keys on your Disklavier. You CAN buy the midi floppy disks however that play along with many audio CDs. Those are called PianoSmart.
