Is there an app to allow PC/MAC control over E-3, Mark IV, DKC-850?

Is there an app to allow PC/MAC control over E-3, Mark IV, DKC-850?

I love having the iPhone controller app that gives me freedom to control the Disklavier from any room. But it has some natural limitations. Has anyone experimented with an app that allows control from your desktop or laptop computer? Media management, list management, song-album deletion, midi control, and other functions that must still be controlled from the head-unit or remote, are some wish lists.

Thanks Jim!!! This is a very cool application. I can't get it to work with the DKC-850 even with the (not approved yet, but works great with the 850) E-3, 3.0 update. iPhone app works great, but not this one as far as I can tell. I think someone mentioned that the Mark IV has a different operating system, so that may be the issue. Still, it's a great looking app and would love to see it supported on the other new Disklavier controller.

I'm glad you like (the looks of) DKVBrowser.

I've asked Bill to see if Yamaha would give me the required information to port
DKVBrowser to work on the DKC-850, as I would love to expand the audience...but,
so far, Yamaha has been silent on the idea.

Thanks Kevin and to all who have helped getting the word out on a better way to control our Disklaviers than a tablet or 80's style remote control. I was able to get my DKC-850 (upgraded from a DC5-PRO Mark IIXG) to work great with the E3, 3.0 upgrade and my iPhone 4. Yet there are so many better ways to manage play lists, media, song data, and more with the DKVBrowser application. I'm able to load it, and it finds my piano on the network,
but never connects :-(

Has anyone worked with Craig Knudsen who worked on the iPhone app? Maybe there is some synergy there?

I will also write Bill Brandom as he has been a great and helpful resource through the upgrade decision and process.

It seems so logical to allow users of these fine instruments to get more out of their playing and recording experience and free up just a few resources. To me, the Disklavier systems allow Yamaha to reach a premium audience of perhaps more techy users who moved from Rolands, and Claviers though years of Midi work to really fine acoustic pianos. For these customers (and I believe there are many more out there), it's not just a player piano, it's a media entertainment system, a fine acoustic piano, and a teaching/learning tool for not only traditional piano, but orchestration, accompaniment, and musical creation.

Many of use are tech savvy, computer literate, and have some experience with midi and synthesizer equipment. To have to use an old style tablet, or worse a remote control to mine the depths of functionality these marvelous musical instruments provide is missing an opportunity to expand the user/customer base.

This is my 3rd Yamaha grand piano and I believe that the company has been able to stay ahead of the traditional piano marketplace because they innovate. I understand issues surrounding DRM, Copyrights, and internet security that might get the "suits" at Corporate to be reluctant to support 3rd party and/or open source access to their control systems. Yet what finally got me to open my wallet (considerably) and purchase a DC5-Pro after 4 years of investigating and saving up, was because of the flexibility that the DKC-850 and the iPhone controller app provide (which has made a splash and good PR for Yamaha on YouTube).

I hope as more customers request this type of interface and better control, Yamaha will understand that an entire community of loyal customers and users stand ready to support their efforts if they just work with those talented individuals.

Thanks again for all the effort.
