MPX1 (markIIXG) not receiving midi data

MPX1 (markIIXG) not receiving midi data

2012-05-09 by tintinlad320

Hi everyone

I just got my mpx1 and I am quite happy with it. This group is really great for finding so many hints and solutions pertinent to those wonderful instruments ! I have one question here: I do not succeed in establishing midi transfer between my Imac towards the disklavier (through midi ports via a usb Midiman Uno interface). The contact works fine in the reverse sense: from the disklavier towards the Imac.

I tried to follow all procedures concerning midi channels etc but it just doesnt work, nothing , nada. Nothing also on the synth parts of the mpx1. I checked the cables with another set up and they are good...

Any hints...

Good morning, everyone.

The MPX1 has a 4-position switch on the back of the control unit. The positions are PC1, PC2, Mac, and MIDI. You need to set the switch to MIDI.

On the front of the control unit, access MIDI Setup : Piano Part

I recommend setting Piano Receive Channel = 1. This means that the piano will receive all MIDI data that is sent on channel 1 and all other MIDI data will go to the tone generator. Set the 500 ms delay to On.

Be sure to have the control unit connected to speakers. If you do not have the control unit connected to speakers, you will not hear any data that is directed to the tone generator.

Lastly, access the Balance settings on the control unit and make sure that the tone generator volume is turned up. While you're at it, be sure that the master volume is set to 0.

When you send MIDI data from the computer to the piano, check the LED light on the UNO to see if it is getting MIDI data from the computer. If it is not receiving MIDI data, check your MIDI Out settings in your computer software to make sure that the data is being directed to the UNO. You might want to check the M-Audio website to see if there is a more recent driver for the interface that you can install.

Regards,
PianoBench

Thanks PianoBench for this excellent overview of the things to try. Indeed the "to host" selector was not set on MIDI, since then all os ok.
THANKS !!!
